9/29/12 General Relief Society Meeting

“We ask our Sisters of the Relief Society never to forget that they are a unique organization in the whole world, for they were organized under the inspiration of the Lord. … No other woman’s organization in all the earth has had such a birth."-Boyd K. Packer

Tonight was the General Relief Society Meeting.  I watched from home.  I was a bit leary since Julie B Beck (absolutely love her) was released and this would be the new General RS Presidency's Meeting.  They were amazing and spoke right to my heart.

Once I've had a chance to re read the talks I'll comment on them.

Temple 09/25/12 "You'll be surprised by the ones that will greet on the other side."

Today I was able to make my first journey to the Kansas City Temple for an Endowment Session.

It was so nice to decide the afternoon before and know I could make the 1 hour trip and still have plenty of day left when I was done.

I was attempting to make the 9am session but due to traffic I arrived at 9am.  I was comforted by the calmness that it didn't matter what session I was in, I was still going to the temple.

I sat the the chapel for almost an hour.  I read the scriptures.  In Alma about how the righteous got comfortable and let wickedness over come them.  Then turn to the D&C to read the words of Jos Smith from Liberty Jail.  I was impressed of how given his extreme situation he pleaded for the saints that suffered so.  I love the talk given by Jeffrey R Holland, "Lessons from Liberty Jail".

I tend to turn inward and plead for my own case when I'm suffering and the example given by Joseph isn't that at all.  My prayers and thoughts should be for those around me.

As we sat in the endowment room, President and Sister Handy, the Temple President and Matron, came in and thanked us for coming to the temple.  They quietly shook each hand as they thanked us for coming.  They both had such soft hands!

Even though this temple is now so close there weren't any workers or patrons that I knew.   Just as I was being guided through the veil, the brother was one that served in our Stake Presidency years ago (about 15+).  I was surprised to see someone that I recognized, so much to the point that I wept once I got the celestrial room.

The spirit quietly spoke to me, "this is exactly what it will be in Heaven, you will be surprised by the ones that will great on the other side."

I did the work for Sarah Monroe Crenshaw (Walt's great grand mother).  As I sat in the chapel I was impressed that I hadn't  check the website to see if her work had already been done.  That concern was quickly followed by, "it doesn't matter if Sarah's work has already been done, today you need to be in the temple!"  I couldn't have agreed more, This day in the temple was for me!  Once I got home sure enough Sarah's work had been done by someone else years ago!
